Residents of Abuja are left in the dark as TCN maintains substation

The management of Abuja Electricity Distribution Plc (AEDC) has declared a nine-hour blackout for Saturday, October 28, across a number of areas.

This is because the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) is doing scheduled maintenance on the 132/33kV Kukwaba Transmission Station from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., according to a statement released on Wednesday.

The Abuja Municipal Council (AMAC) comprises all the districts that will be impacted.

According to the DisCo, its customers in Games Village, including Kabusa Gardens, Galadimawa Village, Human Right Radio, Sunny Vale, Suncity, and Voice of Nigeria, would be impacted by the blackout.

Aco; Penthouse Estate; Aleita Community; Sabon Lugbe; Pyakasa; Chika; Lugbe across zones 1–9; Trademore; National Stadium; Eye Clinic; House on the Rock; Indoor Complex are some of the others.

Additional locations include the Family Worship Centre, Bromax Estate, Wuye, Utako, Railway Station, Federal Medical Centre, Coca-Cola, EFCC Headquarters, Idu Industrial Area, CITEC Estate, Wonderland, African University of Science and Technology, BAZE University, Efab Global Estate, Diamond Court Estate, and the surrounding areas.

“On Saturday, October 28, 2023, between 9:00 am and 6:00 pm, The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) will be carrying out a planned maintenance exercise on the 132/33kV KUKWABA T/S.”

The statement read, “Although we apologise for any inconvenience, rest assured that this outage is essential to guarantee a more durable and dependable power supply to all of our esteemed customers.”
