Mikatekiso Kubayi told RT that being a member of the club allows for unrestricted trading without anyone setting the restrictions.

According to a research fellow at the University of Johannesburg’s Institute for Pan African Thought and Conversation, South Africa’s membership in BRICS is opening up new avenues for free trade and development.

According to Mikatekiso Kubayi, “BRICS in South Africa is a very big deal” for the nation. “The freedom to be able to trade with one another without anyone dictating to one country or another to trade with this one or trade with that one,” he continued, is provided by the group of leading rising economies.

The researcher claims that because of their cooperation with the BRICS club, which consists of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, African countries now perceive potential to localise production, enhance manufacturing infrastructure, and advance with industrialisation.
