Two male students and three female students were allegedly kidnapped and taken to an unidentified location by the attackers.

Five students from the Federal University of Gusau in the state were kidnapped, but were later freed by the Zamfara State Police Command.

Isah Mai Bread’s home in the Sabon Gari neighborhood of Damba village, Gusau Local Government Area (LGA), was broken into by armed individuals, according to a statement made by Mohammed Bunu, the commissioner of police in Zamfara State, on Friday.

According to Bunu, the intruders took N200,000 from the homeowner before making their way to a nearby student flat. This information was provided by the Second-in-Command, Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Yazid Abubakar.

They allegedly kidnapped two male pupils and three female students and took them somewhere secret.

“Upon learning of the situation, the Divisional Police Officer of the Damba Division activated the division’s striking force for search and rescue operations. As a result, Blessing Matthew “F” and Comfort Olola “F” were rescued and transferred to the police clinic for treatment.

To ensure the rescue of additional victims, the Command increased the division’s strike force.

When the bandits spotted the police, they fled and left the other three students behind, according to the statement. “While on search and rescue, the operations team intercepted the bandits at Karazau forest of Damba village at about 1300hrs,” it said.

According to Bunu, the victims were transferred to the hospital for medical attention before being reunited with their families. Bunu also added that efforts were made in full swing to apprehend the evading suspects.
