Tuesday, the House of Representatives observed a moment of quiet in memory of Mohbad, a late Afrobeat performer.
The minute of silence was observed when Babajimi Benson, a legislator from the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, filed a resolution of urgent public significance.
Mr. Benson explained to the House that given the circumstances of the entertainer’s passing, the House should be worried.
He explained that the record label bullied and harassed the singer due to a contract issue.
To stop record firms from exploiting artists, the legislator pleaded with the House to revise the Copy Rights law.
As a mark of respect for the late performer, the House adopted the motion and the minute of silence was observed.
