The House of Representatives is actively working towards engaging with the media to review laws and practices that hinder press freedom and the media’s ability to effectively carry out their constitutional duties.

Hon. Akintunde Rotimi, the chairman of the House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, shared this message in honor of the 2024 World Press Freedom Day.

The House recognizes the Nigerian media as a vital institution within the country, emphasizing the importance of a free media for the health of democracies and acknowledging journalists as key agents of public good.

On May 3rd each year, the Nigeria House of Representatives stands in solidarity with journalists and media practitioners worldwide to mark World Press Freedom Day.
