The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has come under fire from the House of Representatives for allegedly withholding billions of dollars’ worth of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and abdicating the country’s financial obligations.
In an effort to make room for more open leadership, the House of Representatives Committee on Finance threatened to strip the Managing Director and other senior officials of their powers.
This was said by Representative James Falake (APC-Lagos) during the Friday interactive session that was continued with revenue-generating agencies in Abuja.

He stated that the NCAA had refused to provide the committee with the needed data on the number of passengers who flew airlines because it was concealing income made.
But regardless of how hard the NCAA tried to conceal the funds, he pledged that the committee would receive them.
“A negative balance has been routinely reported by you folks. I have a tonne of knowledge because I have studied the NCAA so much this year.
“Somebody else will occupy that office if we further compel you to provide such information,” he said.
The committee decided unanimously that the NCAA’s seat would be at risk if they returned and were unable to provide the needed paper by December 14 at the latest.
The committee stated that it was required by law to examine the NCAA document and that it had to be supplied upon request. It further stated that it would be a waste of time to do anything like submit the paper.
According to the committee, domestic airlines in the country have never before displayed such reckless irresponsibility.
Falake wanted detailed information about the airline that flew the people submitted earlier and how the NCAA arrived at the data of passengers flying on a monthly basis.
He insisted that the Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NiMET) submit its own reconciliation of the revenue split with the NCAA, saying that the NCAA could not afford to give it N2 billion in revenue without doing so.
But Falake demanded that the NCAA provide “the total number of passengers carried by all airlines each month, along with the airline and its passenger count.”
