Reports of gunmen in a Hamburg school

According to accounts, police have entered the premises after two kids took a teacher hostage.

Police in the German city of Hamburg have entered a school where two kids are reportedly holding a teacher hostage, one of whom may be armed.

The Hamburger Morgenpost reports that one of the attackers possessed a firearm. There have been conflicting reports on whether or not the attackers are students.

Reports indicate that submachine gun-wielding officers have encircled the building and are currently conducting a search. According to Bild, police helicopters have been spotted in the region.

A tweet from the local police force stated that officers were already on the scene escorting students to safety. Bild reports that only two courses have been removed due to student resistance, while others remain locked in.

Authorities are reportedly uncertain as to whether or not the suspects have left the school facility, as reported by Hamburger Morgenpost. The publication quoted a police spokeswoman on site as saying that so far there have been no casualties as a result of the event. Bild reports that the attackers had likely already left the location.
