The former chairman of the Imo state traditional rulers council, Samuel Agunwa Ohiri, was reportedly abducted by unidentified gunmen on Saturday morning, according to Vanguard. The incident took place at the front gate of Ohiri’s compound in Orodo, Mbaitoli Council Area of Imo state, around 8:30 am.

An eyewitness stated that Ohiri’s brother, Solomon Ohiri, who is said to be a United States-based businessman, was also kidnapped. The eyewitness described how the gunmen intercepted them as they were having a discussion after returning from visiting friends.

The gunmen shot sporadically, dragged both men into their vehicle, and drove towards the Njaba to Orlu road. However, another eyewitness claimed that Solomon Ohiri managed to escape from the kidnappers. As of now, the Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye, has not yet responded to the inquiry.
