The commander of a military camp in Sabon Garin Dan’Ali, located in the Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State, has reportedly been killed in an ambush.
The incident occurred on Thursday, and the deceased, believed to be a major in the army, was taken to a hospital in Katsina.
According to reliable sources, the commander was ambushed in Malali village, Kankara local government area, where he had been called to provide reinforcement against an attack on the village.
The area where the ambush took place is known to be controlled by bandits, and the commander had responded promptly to previous requests for reinforcement.
However, this time, he arrived in a Hilux vehicle instead of an Amoured Personnel Carrier (APC) due to the unavailability of APCs at the time. Tragically, his assailants intercepted his vehicle and shot him in the head.

During the incident, there was a fierce gunfight between the bandits and the military personnel, resulting in another officer sustaining a gunshot injury.
The local government has been experiencing frequent attacks, leading to the displacement of villagers from their communities.
The report states that inquiries made to the Public Relations Officer of the 17 Brigade in Katsina, Oiza Ehinlaidlye, have yet to receive a response.
