Reportedly, Man Kills Cousin and Friend, Allegedly Sells Body Parts to Suspected Ritualists
Detectives from the Ondo State Police Command have apprehended Dolapo Babalola, a middle-aged man who has allegedly admitted to the murder of his childhood friend, Opeyemi Oyelakin, and the subsequent theft of his motorcycle.
Babalola has confessed to selling the motorcycle in Ibadan and also to selling body parts of Opeyemi to ritualists in the Oyo state capital. Additionally, he has admitted to killing his cousin and three other individuals, although he is uncertain if all his victims died as a result of being struck with sticks or stones before their motorcycles were stolen.
Police investigations have revealed that Babalola operated in Kabba, Kogi, where he killed an Okada rider, as well as in Ife along Ilesha road in Osun state in April 2023. In June 2023, he killed another motorcyclist in Ondo town and disposed of the body at a farm in Oboto bush along Bolorunduro road. Furthermore, in October 2023, Babalola and one Sikiru Mutiu, also known as S.K, killed his childhood friend, dismembered the body, and handed the remains to herbalists named Mujeeb Lawal and Shina Ojo for rituals.
The police have arrested Abiola Olatunji Toheeb and Ayegbajeje Micheal, who are receivers of stolen items, as well as Oyediran Waheed Olaitan, who assists in the production of counterfeit documents to facilitate the sale of stolen motorcycles.
Babalola has admitted to killing a total of five individuals, including his cousin and friend, and stealing their motorcycles.
He has also disclosed that seven motorcycles have been recovered from the receivers, while one suspect remains at large. Although he denies selling human body parts, he did admit to taking a portion of one of his victims’ bodies to an herbalist in Ondo, who promised to provide him with an Ifa Oracle.
During the incident where motorcycles were stolen, individuals who resisted were struck on the head with a large stone and a stick. It was reported that the body parts of these victims were used by herbalists to create spiritual soap.
In addition, the police apprehended a man named Adetokunbo Adesina, who confessed to being hired to murder over 500 people and had received N110,000 from his intended victim.
According to the police investigation, Adetokunbo claimed that three employees of the victim had hired him to carry out the killing.
The victim, out of fear, had sent the money to the account provided. However, Adetokunbo later admitted that he had concocted the threat as a means to extort money from the victim because she had refused to employ him in her pure water factory.
Another arrest was made in the case of a 30-year-old man named Abdullahi Fatai, who was accused of killing his wife. Preliminary investigations revealed that the couple had frequently argued about the wife’s visits to her child from a previous marriage.
After allegedly killing his wife, the suspect took pictures of the body and kept it locked in the house until late at night before raising an alarm.
