At the presidential palace in Kigali on Sunday, Nigerian afrobeats superstar Divine Ikubor, as Rema, met Rwandan President Paul Kagame.
On Saturday, Rema attended the 2023 Trace Music Awards in Kigali, where he took home two awards for his song “Calm Down,” including Global African Artist of the Year and Song of the Year.
The musician stated, “Coming to Rwanda gives me that vibe of a place I can rest and feel at home without having to travel abroad,” in a statement made during his meeting with the president.

“Most of the time, we just want to relax and take a break… I believe that this place has a peaceful energy and feeling. And I believe it will become even more significant once we [Africans] begin to unite.
