Nigerian artist Rema donates ₦105 million to a Benin church in gratitude for supporting his family, showcasing his giving spirit and deep-rooted connections.

On Sunday, Divine Ikubor, who is popularly known as Rema in the Afrobeats music scene, made a generous donation of N105m to a Christ Embassy church located in Benin within Edo State.

During a Sunday service, Rema expressed her gratitude to the church for its support and guidance as she made the donation.

He expressed in a recently widely-circulated video, “My purpose is not to aggrandize myself or obtain recognition. My intention is to glorify God. I believe it’s essential to reciprocate because the church has supported me, prayed for me and kept my spiritual state steadfast.”

To begin with, I would like to make a commitment of N40m towards the development of the church’s infrastructure. Additionally, I am pledging N20m specifically for Rhapsody of Realities and as someone who was once part of the teens church community, I also pledge N25m towards their infrastructure expansion.

During a challenging period after his father’s demise, Rema divulged how the church provided assistance to his family.

“When I was only eight years old and my father passed away, we were left feeling lost and abandoned. Everything we had seemed to disappear, leaving us with a profound sense of loneliness. However, at that time Pastor Joy and Pastor Thomas from this church came forward to lend their support by opening up a shop for my mother which she used as the means to take care of our family.”
