He claims that after fulfilling the terms of his bail, the singer was returned to his family.
They also said he will be present for the procedures that were postponed today before the magistrate court tomorrow. Receiving guidance from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) is the goal of such process.
The hearing against Seun Kuti was postponed earlier today by the Chief Magistrates Court in Lagos’ Yaba neighbourhood.
Magistrate Justice Adeola Olatubosun, who has been hearing the case, was not there, but a source informed Channels Television offline that she was gone attending a conference. No formal explanation for her absence was provided.
Seun was brought to the magistrate court, but when it became clear that the magistrate wasn’t there, he was transported right away to the Panti police station.
The case has been continued till tomorrow, Wednesday, May 24, according to a representative of Seun Kuti’s legal team who spoke with Channels Television.
The four further days of remand given by the court end today, therefore according to his attorneys, they have accompanied the police to Panti to see how they can set up their client’s release.
A group of protesters calling themselves supporters of the “Free Seun Kuti campaign” mounted a demonstration outside the courthouse in the meanwhile, demanding the immediate release of the afrobeat musician.
