The Nigerian Immigration organisation (NIS) has advised the general public, in particular applicants, to be wary of fake invitation letters for job openings within the organisation.
The warning was contained in a statement released on Wednesday by Dr. Adedotun Aridegbe, the Deputy Comptroller of Immigration (DCI) and Service Public Relations Officer (SPRO).
Aridegbe revealed that the agency’s official recruitment portal was the sole place to obtain invitation letters for hiring into the service.
As a result, he issued a warning that all other invitations received to candidates directly from any source are fraudulent.
“Some fraudsters are misleading members of the public with fraudulent invitation letters for recruitment into the NIS, Caroline Adepoju, the acting Comptroller General of NIS, has been made aware of their actions.
“The agency hereby declares that only its official recruitment webpage is the place from which all invitations for recruitment into the NIS may be downloaded.
An excerpt from the announcement said, “All other types of invitations from any source and through any channel issued directly to applicants are fraudulent.
