The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, or EFCC, has revealed that on Saturday, its agents conducted raids on nightclubs located in Akure, Ondo State.

The anti-graft agency revealed that a sting operation conducted in the early hours of Saturday resulted in the arrest of 127 alleged internet fraudsters. However, the agency clarified that the primary objective of the operation was to apprehend the suspects following the receipt of intelligence.

Obasanjonews.com has detailed how the raid resulted in the arrest of the prospective groom and his companion.

The agency’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, stated that the purported con artists threw a gathering known as the “Yahoo Party.”

Oyedele emphasised that those detained were in the agency’s custody in Ibadan and were being profiled, while also rejecting the idea that any soldiers were hurt during the operation.

He stated: “On Saturday, June 8, 2024, in Akure, Ondo State, at a “Yahoo Party” hosted concurrently at Signature and Abah Clubs, the accused online fraudsters were apprehended in an early morning sting operation.

The celebration was originally scheduled for Wednesday, but it was rescheduled for Saturday after they learned that we were aware of it.

“The arrest was the outcome of a methodical operation, and prior to making the arrest, we had closely tracked them. Court charges will be brought against them as soon as the investigations are finished.
