Reason behind my tears upon Olamide’s departure from my record label- ID Cabasa
Olumide Ogunade, also known as ID Cabasa, a veteran record producer and music executive, shared his emotional experience regarding Olamide’s departure from his record label, Coded Tunes, during an interview on the ‘Afrobeats Podcast.’
He mentioned shedding tears when Olamide made the decision to leave, highlighting the deep bond they shared.
Cabasa revealed that despite his efforts to convince Olamide to stay, he ultimately respected Olamide’s choice and gave him his blessings to pursue his own path.
He reminisced about the first time he met Olamide when the latter was just 13 years old, describing him as quiet and unassuming but immensely talented.

Cabasa recalled how Olamide’s skills shone through when he rapped 16 bars over a beat, transforming their relationship into something akin to a father-son bond.
Reflecting on the moment when Olamide expressed his desire to leave the record label, Cabasa expressed the pain he felt at the prospect of Olamide’s departure.
He clarified that his sorrow stemmed not from holding Olamide back but from the sadness of parting ways with someone he cared deeply about.
Despite his tears, Cabasa recounted how he supported Olamide’s decision wholeheartedly, understanding the need for artistic freedom and growth.
This pivotal moment marked the beginning of a new chapter for Olamide as he went on to establish his record label, YBNL Nation, in 2012, showcasing his talent and vision to the world.
