Realignment of opposition parties aimed at challenging APC in 2027
The National Progressive Hub, a prominent group, has highlighted the ongoing alignment of opposition political parties and politicians in the country as a clear indication of their readiness to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming 2027 elections.
This development has raised concerns within the group regarding certain members of the APC who are actively opposing the policies and programs of the current APC-led administration.
Recent reports have revealed that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 elections, held meetings with Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
These meetings are believed to be part of the ongoing political realignment in preparation for the 2027 elections, according to Bukie Okangbe, the National Coordinator of the National Progressive Hub.
She expressed her views during a press conference in Abuja, where she also evaluated President Bola Tinubu’s one year in office.
Okangbe expressed her disappointment with certain APC members who are engaging in activities that align with opposition parties, attributing this to internal party conflicts.
She emphasized the need for unity within the APC and acknowledged that the increasing alignment of political parties and politicians in the country is a clear indication that some are prepared to challenge the APC in the future.
The group remains confident in the support of Nigerians for the APC, particularly due to the leadership qualities of President Bola Tinubu.
Okangbe concluded by stating that the unity of the APC is crucial in ensuring victory in the 2027 elections, as no amount of political alignment or strategies from the opposition can defeat a united APC.
