Rúben Amorim, the highly-rated Portuguese coach, has revealed why he chose to join Manchester United despite offers from other top European clubs. Speaking to reporters, Amorim cited the club’s rich history, passionate fan base, and his ambition to restore the team to its former glory as key motivations for the move.
“I’ve always admired Manchester United for its legacy and culture. This is a club that embodies passion and resilience. My goal is to bring back the winning mentality and build a team that the fans can be proud of,” Amorim stated.
The manager also expressed excitement about working with United’s young talents and the opportunity to implement his unique tactical philosophy at Old Trafford.
The former Portugal international, aged 39, left his managerial role at Sporting CP to join Manchester United and stated that the club’s rich history greatly influenced his decision.
Amorim stressed his commitment to assisting the club in reaching its peak performance and reclaiming its former glory.

“Firstly, I felt a connection with the club. And by ‘the club,’ everyone knows I’m referring to Man United,” said the Portuguese player.
However, I truly value the connection I feel with everyone in the club. It’s essential for me to work with people whom I like and genuinely connect with.
The second aspect is the club’s history. Everyone here is eager for success, and that’s one of the reasons I want to be a part of it; you have the chance to contribute to something extraordinary rather than being just another member. This truly appeals to me.
“When you watch the games here and observe the interaction with the managers and players, even during challenging times, I believe it is a special club,” he added.
