Ahead of Sunday’s Premier League London derby against Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal custodian David Raya says he’s not sure he’s done enough to keep his place in the Gunners’ net ahead of teammate Aaron Ramsdale.
In Ramsdale’s place, Raya made his Premier League debut last Sunday against Everton and recorded a clean sheet. Raya joined Arsenal from Brentford.
However, Ramsdale was once more relegated to the sidelines on Wednesday night as Arsenal destroyed PSV 4-0 in the Champions League.
Raya said of Mikel Arteta’s decision to switch up his goalies after Arsenal’s victory over PSV: “It is his option, it is not my choice.
“When Aaron returns, he must battle for the team and help them win games.
“I understand [the discussions surrounding the choice] and I believe it is the first time two top goalkeepers are in the same team so that is just part of football now,” the player said. We must work with the two top players that the coach desires for each position.
“I participated in the last two games, but I have no idea what will occur on Sunday.
