Radio station in Ibadan is invaded and taken over by alleged Yoruba Nation agitators
Amuludun 99.1 FM in Ibadan was allegedly kidnapped early on Sunday by individuals thought to be Yoruba Nation agitators.
According to certain staff members who talked with Obasanjonews24, the radio station was taken over about 6 am on Sunday.
The Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) is the owner of the community radio station Amuludun FM.
Obasanjonews24 was told by a station employee that the suspects broke into the station using a variety of charms.
What we saw this morning was that. Aroud 6 am, they seized control of the station. However, they had already arrived at the station before then.
They arrived with a variety of charms. They woke up the sleeping members of our staff. Some of our employees have left. Some of our workers have not yet been seen. But security [staff] are already on the ground,” he continued.
The station has stopped broadcasting, according to a different source.
The station’s general manager, Mr. Stephen Agbaje, acknowledged the occurrence to Obasanjonews24 but emphasized that the security services had brought the situation under control.
A few arrests, he said, had been made.
“Some agitators entered the station during the night and seized control, but the security personnel were able to restore order. Some arrests have been made, and they were able to reclaim the station, the man said.
