President Vladimir Putin has vowed that Ukraine will face a “worthy response” following the recent incursion into Kursk. His statement reflects escalating tensions and indicates a potential increase in military or diplomatic actions between the two nations.
Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, alleges that Ukraine is attempting to destabilize Russian territory by entering its southern region and cautions that a suitable response will be delivered.
The Ukrainian military forcefully penetrated the Russian border and advanced into western areas of Kursk region last week, marking their largest breach since Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
Moscow has responded with military action to suppress the incursion, appearing caught off-guard. The Russian Defence Ministry announced on Monday that more troops and resources had arrived in Kursk; however, they did not provide specifics regarding the numbers involved.
According to the military, automobile trailers are being utilized for swift transportation of heavy tracked vehicles to areas where Ukrainian Armed Forces formations are encountering blockades in order to preserve road safety.
According to a video shared by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Telegram, Oleksandr Syrskyii, the army chief of Ukraine disclosed that Kyiv has control over an estimated 1,000sq km (386sq miles)of Kursk during Monday’s report.
On Monday, Zelenskyy confirmed for the first time that Ukrainian military is present in Kursk. During his night address, the President stated that Russia had initiated conflict in numerous other nations and now war was returning to them.
Earlier today, Putin was informed by Kursk Governor Alexei Smirnov about the Ukrainian ground attacks that had lasted for six days in his region. According to him, 28 settlements were lost and the incursion spread over an area approximately 12km deep and 40km wide.
According to him, the casualties amounted to 12 civilians with approximately 121,000 individuals either evacuated or having vacated affected areas independently. The predetermined number of evacuations is set at an overall total of 180,000 people.
The regional governor, Vyacheslav Gladkov, reported that an evacuation order was issued in Russia’s Belgorod region on Monday due to concerns of a Ukrainian invasion in the Krasnaya Yaruga district.
Situated in Belgorod’s northwest area, Krasnaya Yaruga shares a border with Kursk.
During a televised gathering, Putin stated that the Ukrainian military’s losses are experiencing an alarming surge, particularly among their best-trained units which adversaries have been relocating towards our border.

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) alleged that Russia was attempting to levy baseless charges against Kyiv’s military for war crimes.
According to Telegram statements by the SBU, they have obtained intelligence indicating that Russia might orchestrate offenses and subsequently attribute them to Ukraine.
