After leaving Paris Saint-Germain in June 2023, Lionel Messi has been accused by club chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi of not having “respect” for the Ligue 1 team.

Messi said in September of last year that he was angry PSG had not honoured him for his heroics during the 2022 World Cup.

We converse while we’re present, not when we’re absent, I’ll add, not only for him but for everyone. That is not our fashion.

“I respect Messi a lot, but it’s not good if someone wants to talk negatively about Paris Saint-Germain afterwards.” That lacks decency, Al-Khelaifi said to RMC Sport.

In the Qatari final over France, Messi scored two goals.

Argentina triumphed 4-2 on penalties thanks to his additional penalty conversion in the shootout.
