PSC to NPF: Arrest fraudster using false Facebook account in our name
The Nigeria Police Force has been ordered by the Police Service Commission to quickly delete, apprehend, and prosecute fraudsters who created a false Facebook account in the commission’s name.
In a statement on Monday, Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations, said that the commission is concerned that the phoney account is appearing as it is getting ready to start the 2023 Police recruiting procedure.
He claims that these con artists can jeopardise next Commission hiring processes by using these false social media platforms.
The Commission found that Prosper Stephen was the account owner, and that as of Saturday, September 23, 2023, the account already had 22,000 users and 1700 followers.
The Commission wants to make it clear that the aforementioned Stephen is unknown to the Commission and shouldn’t be involved with its official social media accounts. The assertion reads
Additionally, it cautioned Nigerians from giving in to the temptation of cooperating with fraudsters who might use the Facebook site to con desperate job seekers.
It stated that anyone proven to be participating in criminal activity would not be spared by the commission.
Nigerians are advised to report anyone requesting payment for any Commission programme to the local police station and to be wary of these shady persons.
