PSC Pledges to End Corruption in Police Recruitment, Promotion

The Police Service Commission (PSC) is committed to eradicating corruption in the recruitment and promotion processes within the police force.

Eliminating corruption in police recruitment, promotion and discipline is a promise made by DIG Hashimu Argungu (Rtd), the Chairman of the Police Service Commission.

In a statement issued by Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations, it was disclosed that the management team of Police Service Commission received an assembly from United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) led by Mr. Paul Turay where he stated his opinion on the matter as PSC helmsman.

According to him, the Commission can expect positive innovations from the new team.

He revealed that the Nigeria Police Force Commission will implement a written examination for promotion, with the aim of enhancing personnel management and ensuring higher quality and capacity within the force.

He requested that the UNDP sustains their assistance to enable the Commission to aptly exercise its authority in the appointment, promotion, and discipline of Nigeria Police Force personnel.

Mr. Paul Turay, the head of the UNDP delegation visiting, led Napoleon Idamwenhor Enayaba and Chinpihol Kipgen – Data Unit Lead to congratulate the new leadership at their meeting. He emphasized that they were there specifically to strengthen current relationships and collaborations with the Commission.

According to Mr. Turay, the purpose of this visit is not only to guarantee partnership programmes’ unbroken continuation and sustainability but also to augment capacity in the Commission.
