Eight Commissioners of Police have been appointed and assigned to State Commands across the nation with the approval of the Police Service Commission (PSC).
The Commission also applauded the acting Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for following its most recent policy on gender sensitivity in his recommendation, according to a statement from its spokesman, Ikechukwu Ani.
However, the Commission anticipates that the Inspector General would include additional Officers from the North-East and South-East geographical zones in his upcoming proposals since they have not yet reached the benchmark of 15% as established at its most recent plenary meeting.
Godwin Aghaulor, who is now the CP of Borno State Command, Adebola Ayinde Hamzat, the CP of Oyo State Command, and Samuel Titus Musa, the CP of Kebbi State Command, are the newly appointed state commissioners of police.
Additionally appointed were Stephen Olarewaju for the CP Imo State Command, Aderemi Olufemi Adeoye for the CP Anambra State Command, and Alamatu Abiodun Mustapha for the CP Ogun State Command.
The two female police commissioners are CP Augustina Ogbodo for the Ebonyi State Command and CP Adelesi E. Oluwarotimi for the Kwara State Command.
The interim Inspector General of Police’s suggested assignments, according to the chairman of the commission, Dr. Solomon Arase, CFR, a retired Inspector General of Police, were generally fair, and the IGP was praised for include women.
Dr. Arase recommended that the acting IGP take into account the underserved geopolitical zones while submitting new proposals for the Commission’s approval.
