Aisha Yesufu commends Nigerians for their participation in protests, stating that they have demonstrated their refusal to be treated as slaves, asserting their rights and demanding change.
On Saturday, Aisha Yesufu, a renowned social reformer stated that Nigerians have demonstrated their unwillingness to be subjugated as slaves.
During the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria and one million-man march, Yesufu expressed admiration for Nigerians who stood up against security agencies to protest.
The protest’s organizers had promised to culminate the 10-day #EndBadGovernance demonstrations on Saturday with a one-million-man march across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
Among other demands, the protesters had insisted on the restitution of fuel subsidy.
In multiple states, such as Kano, Kanu, Plateau, Niger, Jigawa,Gombe,Bauchi,Yobe and Borno,the demonstrations escalated into violence resulting in a minimum of 15 fatalities,a number of individuals wounded,and significant damage to property.
On X, Yesufu expressed her admiration for the Nigerian citizens who refused to back down in their protests despite facing brutality from security agents.
It was demonstrated that they were Active Citizens, not Slaves. May the souls of those who perished continue to rest in peace.
