Protests: Kano and Another State Ease Curfew Restrictions

Protests lead to relaxed curfew measures in Kano and another state, providing residents with more flexibility.

The curfew in Kano State has been relaxed and will now be enforced from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., according to an announcement by the state government.

The aim of this announcement, made by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy- Baba Dantiye is to aid in bringing back a sense of regularity to the state.

In response to the ongoing nationwide protests, a 24-hour curfew was imposed to ensure safety. The governor of the state, Abba Yusuf offered his condolences to affected families and appealed for residents’ compliance with the curfew.

He also promised further review as soon as there is an improvement in security situation.

Yobe State has followed suit and relaxed its curfew in Potiskum, Gashua, and Nguru towns.

According to Governor Mai Mala Buni’s Special Adviser on Security Matters, Retired Brig.-Gen. Dahiru Abdulsalam’s announcement the new schedule permits legitimate activities from noon until 5 p.m.

The security agencies were praised by Governor Buni for their endeavors in reestablishing peace and he urged inhabitants to stay receptive and watchful. He reiterated the government’s dedication towards ensuring its citizens’ safety and wellness.

Both the state administrations stressed on their ongoing observation of the matter to guarantee the security of all inhabitants.
