Protests: Charly Boy Urges Nigerian Youths to Stand Firm Amid ‘Season of Lies

Charly Boy, the renowned singer and activist, passionately implores Nigerian youths to remain steadfast in their resolve to hold nationwide protests against corrupt governance.

If those in positions of authority are certain about their honesty, Charly Boy recommended that they welcome scrutiny and protest rather than suppress it.

On Wednesday, he shared through his X handle that Lagos residents should not disregard the protest after refuting a report claiming that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration has already done enough for them.

Charly Boy, on the other hand, disputed the suggestion by asserting that their inclination towards suppressing opposing views and evading responsibility stems from concealing certain undisclosed information.

He expressed, “An era filled with falsehoods, duplicity and manipulation; the deeper you investigate…”

Confident and honest leaders welcome scrutiny and protests instead of suppressing them. When authorities silence opposing opinions and avoid answering questions, it suggests that they are hiding something.

Their unwillingness to be accountable proves their corruption and abuse of power which is evidenced by the unpleasant truths kept hidden in their closet.

For a democracy to be authentic, governments have an obligation to remain transparent and accountable for their actions.

Constructive criticism should not only be acknowledged but embraced regardless of discomforts to enable open dialogue between the parties involved.

Governments that adhere by these principles can earn public trust while affirming dedication towards serving citizens’ interests – however hiding behind secrecy and coercions are indications of deceitfulness coupled with breaches in people’s confidence levels.

Nigerian youths never give up. Unless they fear us, there will be no respect for us.
