Protest Leaders Detained by DSS in Katsina

According to a report by Vanguard, the leaders of a protest against inadequate governance have been arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) in Katsina State.
According to reports from the local sources, Kabir Yandaki and Habibu Ruma – prominent members of the “Struggle for Good Governance” movement were asked to visit Katsina’s DSS office where they were subsequently arrested.
Security forces took Mujittapha Usman into custody after he led a protest in Malumfashi Local Government Area.
According to sources close to the detainees who spoke with local media, the DSS reached out to Yandaki and Ruma that morning requesting their presence at their office for questioning related to a protest from the previous day. But instead of questioning them, they were apprehended upon arrival and as we report this story remain in custody.

Earlier, we were informed that the peaceful demonstration transformed into chaos as an unruly gathering – composed of numerous minors among others- ventured onto the streets of the capital city.
Chanting “Bamuyi Bamuyi” and wielding sticks and leaves, they proceeded to vandalize public property. Chaos ensued as a patrol car belonging to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) was set ablaze while the All Progressive Congress office in Dutsinma LGA went up in flames.
On Friday morning, the Katsina State Government enforced a curfew of 24 hours in Dutsinma Local Government Area and an evening to early-morning curfew from 7pm till 7am across the other thirty-four LGAs amidst rising tension.
