Indigenes of Kogi State and some Nigerians, united under the banner of the “Alliance For Emancipation and True Change”, gathered in the United Kingdom to peacefully protest against the corruption allegations leveled against former Governor Yahaya Bello.

The group called upon President Bola Tinubu to intervene and ensure that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) operates impartially, free from any political influence.

Expressing concerns over the perceived bias in the EFCC’s actions, the demonstrators stressed the need for a fair and transparent prosecution process that upholds the principles of justice and the rule of law.

They criticized the alleged misuse of the EFCC by politicians to target and harass their rivals, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the agency’s independence and integrity.

During the protest, the Publicity Secretary of the Alliance For Emancipation and True Change, Dr. Shaibu Ojogbane, and the Director of Research & Public Affairs, Chukwunonso Ezeani, reiterated their organization’s support for anti-corruption initiatives while advocating for increased oversight to prevent selective justice and human rights abuses.

The group highlighted what they perceived as a politically motivated attack on the former Governor, suggesting that the opposition in Kogi State was behind the orchestrated campaign.

They called for a fair and lawful process in addressing any allegations against Yahaya Bello, emphasizing the need to uphold the rule of law and prevent any undue influence on the EFCC’s activities.

In conclusion, the protesters urged swift action from President Bola Tinubu to address the situation and ensure that the EFCC operates independently and without bias, safeguarding the principles of justice and accountability in Nigeria.
