The military is still dedicated to protecting the lives and property of Nigerians, regardless of tribe or religion, according to CDS Gen. Christopher Musa.
He stated that “the military is nonpartisan and apolitical and will do everything possible to protect the territorial integrity of the country from external aggression.”
The purpose of the visit, according to General Musa, was to strengthen the ties between the Nigerian armed forces and religious leaders all over the nation. He made this statement while paying a familiarisation visit to the leadership of the Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs at the National Mosque in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, on Friday.
According to him, “The Military remains committed to the protection of Nigerians’ lives and property, irrespective of tribe or religion.”
Religious leaders were urged by the Chief of Defence Staff to use their influence to promote the harmony and peace necessary for the nation’s socioeconomic development.
Gen. Musa contends that only through peace and unification can the nation’s progress in all aspects of life be accomplished.
The Sheikh Professor Ibrahim Ahmad Maqari, the Central Mosque’s chief imam, thanked the military chief for his visit and promised to continue preaching in favour of peace while taking all necessary measures to maintain peace and unity among all Nigerians.
