Peter Obi laments the deaths of Chimtex, Dauda, Elehu, and others during the presidential election
Peter Obi, a candidate for the Labour Party, has thought about the deaths of various party leaders and members during the campaigns as we approach the presidential election on Saturday.
Mallam Lawal Garba, the Zonal Party Chairman in Kaduna, was one of the famous Labour Party members who left the organisation. He passed away late last year in a horrifying car accident.
Mrs. Victoria Chimtex, the leader of the Labour Party’s women in Kaduna State, was assassinated in Kaura around the end of last year, while Christopher Elehu, the party’s candidate for the Onuimo LGA seat in Imo State, was killed in December 2022.
Others include an amputated supporter in Lagos State and Isaac Dauda, the party’s leader in Mangu Local Government Area, Plateau State, who passed away in January 2023.
He tweeted the following names and details of their deaths on Thursday evening. “We console and pray for the peace of the souls of Nigerians, particularly our supporters that perished or were slain in our struggle for a New Nigeria,” he added.
Obi expressed his regret for the attacks on members and supporters of his political party, highlighting the most recent incident in Lagos State when some of them were attacked and seriously hurt while attending a rally in the state.
He expressed sympathy for them while also reminding the security agencies that the assailants needed to be held accountable.
