The sophisticated infrastructure put in place by the various government entities tasked with safeguarding the country’s online, according to Pantami, allowed the attacks to be effectively stopped.
During the recently finished Presidential and National Assembly elections, no less than 12.9 million cyberattacks were registered from both inside and outside the nation.
Around 6.9 million assaults were registered on election day alone, according to the disclosure made on Tuesday by Prof. Isa Pantami, Minister of Communications and Digital Economy.
The complex infrastructure put in place by the various government entities tasked with safeguarding the country’s internet, according to Pantami, is what allowed the attacks to be effectively stopped.
While praising President Muhammadu Buhari for creating an environment that allows government agencies to carry out their duties without interference, the Minister noted that, in the lead-up to the presidential elections, threat intelligence had revealed an exponential rise in cyberthreats to Nigeria’s cyberspace.
