“Do not commit errors.” “Put all of your votes in one basket,” the governor of Rivers said.

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike claims that rumours about his preferred presidential candidate in the upcoming elections will not influence his decision.

Since the PDP primaries in May 2022, Wike and four other unhappy PDP governors, Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), have been at odds with the party’s presidential nominee, Atiku Abubakar.

It was said that Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC), met with the G5 or Integrity Group governors last Thursday in London to talk about a possible deal. However, both the governor of Rivers and Tinubu denied the reports.

On Wednesday, Wike reaffirmed his position and said that his chosen presidential candidate would be announced in due course. The Akpabu-Egbeda-Elele/Omoku Link Road is being built in the state.

He urged those mixing his native Ikwerre dialect with English not to make mistakes. Put all of your votes in one basket. Make a single basket for it. Carry everything; give to the House of Representatives and the governorship.

“Select us for the Senate.” Support us in the Assembly House election. But as president, we’ll show you how to go about it.

“If somebody wants to say something, go ahead.” Let’s say I’m employed by so-and-so, and this is your company. I’m not working for so-and-so; this is your business, you say. That won’t discourage me or cause me to reconsider where we’re going.

“As a result, people are free to speculate.” After all, the word “speculation” is there for a reason. People must conjecture, so let them do so. And let them know that some of them are busy abusing leaders while not even having 25 votes. Once your abuse of leaders is through, you will pay.

“We’re here speaking to our people; they’re at the radio and TV stations.” We are in this location with our people. By the time we are done, you get to choose. Ask them, “What did you bring for us?” whenever they arrive.
