President Bola Tinubu has taken decisive action to ensure energy security, promote utility, and decrease the high costs of fuel by mandating the acquisition of vehicles powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) for all government ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).
According to a statement from Presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale, the President’s directive is aimed at advancing Nigeria’s transition to cleaner energy sources. CNG-powered vehicles are known for their lower emissions and affordability, providing a sustainable alternative for Nigerian energy consumers.
During a meeting with members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) in Abuja, President Tinubu emphasized the significance of the energy reforms initiated by his administration, asserting that there would be no regression in these efforts.
He stated, “As public officials, we must lead by example in paving the way for a prosperous future. It begins with us, and by demonstrating our commitment, Nigerians will follow suit.” President Tinubu directed the rejection of all proposals for traditional petrol-dependent vehicles, urging FEC members to prioritize the procurement of CNG-compliant vehicles.
He reiterated his dedication to maximizing Nigeria’s gas potential, reducing transportation costs, and enhancing the quality of life for all citizens. Through this directive, President Tinubu reaffirms his administration’s commitment to sustainable energy practices and economic advancement.
