Ojukaye Amachree has been appointed by President Bola Tinubu to serve as the Director of Energy Security in the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
Amachree’s new responsibilities entail overseeing policy coordination, infrastructure protection strategies, data management, security coordination, risk advisory and the establishment of strategic partnerships in the energy sector.
On Tuesday, an announcement was issued in Abuja regarding the matter by Zakari Mijinyawa, who heads Strategic Communications at ONSA.
Mijinyawa states that the appointment of Amachree is a constituent element in Nigeria’s government overall strategy to achieve an energy supply that is stable, sustainable and secure.

The emphasis of Amachree on energy security is anticipated to fortify the nation’s energy framework, advance important planning in the industry, and coincide with the government’s pledge to augment both national safety as well as sustainable power.
The statement explained that Hon. Amachree will be responsible for overseeing critical national energy security initiatives designed to bolster energy security and promote increased community involvement in protecting Nigeria’s energy resources in order to advance both near-term and lasting energy sustainability goals.
Amachree’s experience of over 20 years in business, politics, and engagement with the energy sector was duly noted. This encompasses proven leadership expertise across both public and private sectors but especially within Niger Delta.
He stated that the energy security chief will collaborate extensively with multiple parties, such as government departments, security organizations and regulators within the energy industry.
Furthermore, he mentioned that Amachree will collaborate with global allies and local authorities to introduce inventive measures in tackling Nigeria’s present as well as future energy predicaments.
According to Mijinyawa, the recently appointed individual by the President possesses qualifications in Management and has graduated from Lagos Business School.
He stated, “The nomination highlights President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s dedication to enhancing energy security and resilience while tackling concerns related to the supply chain.”
