Highlighting Nigeria’s leadership in Africa, President Biden supports Nigeria’s bid for a permanent position on the UN Security Council, marking a significant endorsement in global diplomacy.
U.S. President Joe Biden believes Nigeria should have a permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council.
He stated that his country was dedicated to ensuring Africa obtains two permanent seats on the United Nations Security Council.
Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, stated that President Biden expressed his position on Nigeria’s pursuit of a permanent UN Security Council seat during a phone conversation with President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday evening.
Tuggar stated that the 30-minute phone conversation between the two leaders occurred in light of Tigran Gambaryan’s release, who is Binance’s head of finance crime compliance, on October 23.

The minister mentioned that the US president expressed his belief that Nigeria should have a permanent seat on the UN Security Council.
“The two leaders also talked about the matter of permanent seats on the United Nations Security Council, and President Biden reiterated that the United States is dedicated to ensuring Africa obtains two permanent seats,” Tuggar mentioned.
Remember that Africa has been advocating for equal representation on the UN Security Council for a long time.
It is reported that each year, the UN General Assembly elects five new members from various geographical regions to serve a two-year term on the council.
Africa holds three rotating seats on the 15-member council.
