Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Special Advisor on Information and Strategy for President Bola Tinubu, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, have been warned to stop their campaign of intimidation and slander against the judiciary.

In a statement released on Monday in Abuja, Onanuga made the demand in response to Atiku’s recent criticism of the country’s judiciary.

The PDP and the spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar, its failed presidential candidate on February 25th, tossed caution to the wind in separate comments.

They slandered President Bola Tinubu with false and outrageous accusations, undermining the judiciary’s integrity.

“The PDP, the former vice president, and his spokesman have become overtly desperate to hang their woes on President Tinubu and the judiciary, an important arm of government in Nigeria, following the poor run of some elected governors of the party at the appeal court,” he stated.

He went on to say that by shifting the blame, Atiku and his backers were unable to demonstrate that they had given their claims any careful consideration before going public.

He urged Nigerians to reject the baseless charges levelled by the PDP and its nominee, who said Tinubu had suppressed the opposition and tainted the courts while he was the governor of Lagos State.

Furthermore, he called on the people to disregard the assertion that Tinubu planned to appoint followers as Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) in an effort to force the country into a one-party state.

Onanuga emphasised that Tinubu had never interfered with a court’s ruling and was a devout democrat.
