The presidency has officially disowned a controversial statement credited to Tinubu, asserting it is fake news.
The President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, denies authoring a viral statement dubbed “Tinubu Speaks,” which has been labeled as fake by the presidency.
On Saturday, a brief statement was released by Ajuri Ngelale, the spokesperson for the President.
The authenticity of the statement being circulated was dismissed by Ngelale.
Ngelale firmly reiterated that this is fake and does not come from the Presidency, based on recent inquiries.
The purported speech from President Tinubu addressing the economic challenges of the nation has been widely circulated on various social media platforms.
The plan proposed a range of extreme actions to alleviate the widespread hardship, such as implementing a 50 percent reduction in pay for high-ranking government personnel and abolishing the Office of the First Lady. Additionally, it aimed to enhance public welfare by reintroducing fuel and electricity subsidies.
The report asserted that the President had intentions of cutting down on his ministers, disposing of presidential planes and prohibiting governmental authorities from taking medical trips abroad.
This occurs in the midst of increased tension regarding the forthcoming hardship protest scheduled from August 1-10 in Nigeria.
