Population Census Moved to May by FG

The decision was made as a result of the gubernatorial elections being moved from March 11 to March 18, according to Lai Mohammed, minister of information and culture.

In order to purchase software for the National Population Commission to conduct the National Census in May 2023, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved spending of 2.8 billion naira.

The 2023 population and housing census, which was originally set for March 29th, has been moved to May 2023, according to Minister of Communication and Culture Lai Mohammed.

The governorship elections were moved from March 11 to March 18, he said, which made the decision necessary.

The Nigeria Agenda 2050 was also approved by the FEC. This plan aims to reduce the number of people living in poverty to 2.1 million by the year 2050, increase real GDP growth by 7%, and create 165 million new employment worth 165 million naira.

Around 29 months have passed since President Buhari established the National Steering Committee to prepare the Medium-Term National Development Plan for the years 2021 to 2025 and Nigeria Agenda 2050.

By 2050, it is intended to elevate Nigeria to the rank of an Upper Middle-Income Country, then a High-Income Country.
