Pastor Adewale Giwa, the senior pastor of Awaiting The Second Coming Of Christ Ministry, made a plea to President Bola Tinubu on Sunday. He urged him to consider lowering rice prices significantly to N20,000 per bag and petrol rates down to N200 per litre.

Pastor Giwa underscored the significance of reopening all terrestrial borders as a means to tackle the predicaments confronting Nigerians.

“I urge President Bola Tinubu to exert every effort towards reducing the cost of rice per bag to N20,000 and petrol per litre to N200,” Pastor Giwa stated in a personal statement.

He further advised that if the president is serious about addressing Nigeria’s issues, he should have already taken his previous advice on reopening the land borders into consideration.”

In addition, Pastor Giwa censured those behind the proposed nationwide protest on August 1st by labeling them as instigators of unrest.

He cautioned that authentic demonstrations would arise spontaneously from marketplaces, places of worship, and thoroughfares without any prior intimation to the authorities.

When addressing the planned protests, Giwa stated that those organizing them are primarily using social media to support certain politicians and they aim to exploit the current economic hardship for political gain.

According to him, genuine protests will arise in markets, churches or on streets spontaneously without any prior announcement made known to the government.

Giwa referenced a biblical tale in which Ehud conducted a covert operation to rescue the Israelites from King Eglon of Moab, as outlined in Judges chapter 3.

He pointed out that when seeking freedom for his people, Ehud kept his plan confidential and acted with firm determination – successfully ending almost two decades of oppressive rule. Similarly, Giwa suggested that those experiencing poverty will eventually stage protests without any worries about facing bullying or physical retaliation.
