Popular Ondo ‘Pastor’ Arrested for Alleged Involvement in Multiple Kidnappings
Authorities in Ondo State arrest a well-known pastor over allegations of orchestrating multiple kidnappings, sparking shock and outrage in the community.
Security officers have captured Terry Tinate Augustus, infamously referred to as “Black,” a notorious kidnapper active in Ondo State.
Augustus, who identifies as a pastor from the Ajapa community in Ese Odo Local Government Area, was apprehended in Ilaje LGA on December 8, 2024.
The Amotekun Corps conducted the operation in partnership with the Special Assistant to the Governor of Ondo State on Pipeline Surveillance and Waterways Security, Engr.
Alore Omosuyi was arrested following a tip-off from the Special Squad of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police.
In a statement released on December 9, the media team of the Office of the Special Assistant to the Governor on Pipeline Surveillance and Waterways Security announced that Augustus is a pivotal figure in a violent kidnapping syndicate associated with multiple abductions. This includes involvement in a recent high-profile kidnapping case in Lagos.
On December 8, 2024, a collaborative effort involving the office of Engineer Alore Omosuyi, Special Assistant to the Ondo State Governor on Pipeline Surveillance and Waterways Security, alongside the Amotekun Divisional Headquarters in Ilaje Local Government Area resulted in apprehending Terry Tinate Augustus—commonly referred to as “Black”—a notorious kidnapper.
The arrest occurred in Alape, located within the Ilaje Local Government Area, after receiving vital intelligence from the Commissioner of Police Special Squad 1 in Lagos State.
Terry, a central player in a violent kidnapping syndicate, was connected to several abductions, including a recent high-profile case in Lagos.
The operation was initiated following the arrests of two gang members, Promise Mafimisebi and Monday Ikuesan, in Lagos.
During questioning, Mafimisebi disclosed that the gang had obtained a ransom of $52,000 from the recent kidnapping of Isa Ososa in Lagos. He further revealed that Terry Tinate Augustus, also known as Black and originally from Ajapa in Ondo State, was part of their group.
The group mainly focused on urban regions, targeting affluent individuals for ransom. They executed quick abductions and frequently utilized stolen vehicles to conduct their operations.
Engineer Alore Omosuyi, through his strategic leadership, worked closely with the Amotekun Corps Ilaje to coordinate a successful operation. Their combined expertise in security surveillance led to the swift apprehension of the suspect.
