Monday night, a 300-level student from the sociology department of the Federal University of Lafia in Nasarawa State was shot by gunmen who were allegedly abducting victims from Gandu, a hamlet located roughly two kilometres away from the university.

Our correspondent was informed that the gunmen stormed the neighbourhood at about 8:30 p.m., seizing a well-known businessman in the process.

An eyewitness who asked to remain anonymous told our correspondent that the incident had made people in the area fearful, and many students had stayed inside ever since it happened.

“The student was shot by the bandits and was immediately rushed to the hospital where he is receiving treatment,” the eyewitness stated. We pray that he heals quickly because this was a terrible circumstance.

“Because to the ongoing attacks, kidnappings of students, and other illegal activity in this area, our lives are no longer safe.
