The governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, has turned down Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s apologies for the state’s ongoing political unrest.
Aiyedatiwa apologised to Akeredolu on Thursday in an effort to resolve the political unrest that has beset Ondo State in recent months, according to Obasanjonews24.
In response to the apology, the governor refuted several statements made in it and stated that his deputy needed to respond to a query from the state House of Assembly. He did this through his Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties and Strategy, Dr. Doyin Odebowale.

Aiyedatiwa had declared his loyalty to the governor and denied funding any protests against Akeredolu. He attributed the current issue to the state’s desperate politicians.
In a response on behalf of the governor, Odebowale refuted the deputy governor’s claim that Akeredolu had become involved in the dispute by requesting that the House adopt political solutions.
Additionally, he took issue with the deputy governor’s statement that he had ever supported a group protesting against the governor.
He stated, “As subtly suggested at the (Aiyedatiwa’s) press conference, Governor Akeredolu does not meddle in the affairs of the House of Assembly of Ondo State.” In the face of an attempt to impeach the deputy governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the governor has never before “persuaded” the “distinguished members of Ondo State House of Assembly to embrace the political solution offered by the APC.”
The governor has been a leading proponent of constitutional democracy for more than 20 years and has a thorough understanding of it. The governor vehemently denies any sly implication that he is meddling in the affairs of the second arm of government. Mr. Governor can’t go too far.
“All sorts of lies against my person in the media,” the deputy governor said in reference to the House of Assembly’s accusations of misconduct against him. It is only fitting that we suggest he provide this argument before the same House of Assembly, which has accused him of 14 serious transgressions.
“More instructive is the unfortunate reference made to ‘a series of events triggered by the health challenges faced by Mr Governor, which gave rise to misunderstandings, misconceptions, assumptions, and insinuations, and exploited by political contenders preparing for the upcoming 2024 gubernatorial election,'” expressed disapproval to Aiyedatiwa’s mention of Akeredolu’s illness.
