The murders of five police officers and a couple will be found on Friday morning, according to the Imo State Police Command.
In the state’s Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area, the event took place in Okpala village.
Tactical and operational teams have been dispatched, according to police public relations officer ASP Henry Okoye.
While security has been stepped up around the location, Okoye stated that operatives were on the trail of the culprits.
“Teams have been sent out by the command for continuous patrol and to find those responsible for this heinous deed.” He said, “We’re getting closer to them.”
The late officers’ bodies, which were found in a nearby eatery, have been removed and placed in a mortuary.
Assailants destroyed a white Hilux patrol vehicle while brandishing their firearms. The murders also included a couple who ran a local store, Mr. and Mrs. Chinaka Nwagu.
‘Inside the restaurant, three of the officers were slain. A source informed NAN that the shooters chased after two other people who fled to a neighbouring store and killed them there as well as the couple.
Five Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) employees were slain by gunmen on March 27 in the same Okpala.
