Anambra police promise swift action to apprehend the culprits behind the killing of vigilante operatives, ensuring justice and security for residents.
The Anambra State Police Command has pledged to track down the criminals responsible for killing four vigilante operatives and seriously injuring two others in the state.
According to Tochukwu Ikenga, the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Commissioner of Police Nnaghe Itam made this promise on Monday.
Ikenga reported that armed individuals in unregistered Lexus 330 and Honda FJ Cruiser SUVs at Ekeagu Abatete killed three vigilante members and injured another unsuspecting civilian.
He added that at Ukpo Junction in the Dunkunofia Local Government Area, while evading pursuit by the Police Responding Team, he shot and killed another member of the vigilante group, injured another individual, and set two vehicles on fire.
The police have confirmed that the bodies of those who passed away have been recovered, and the injured are currently receiving treatment in the hospital.
The Police Commissioner expressed condolences to the family, friends, and community of the deceased. They assured that the police would exhaust all efforts to apprehend those responsible for this heinous act and ensure justice is served.
The statement also mentioned that any additional developments would be shared with the public.
