Three persons who had been abducted by gunmen in Gogalo village, Jibia local government area, Katsina state, were allegedly liberated by the Katsina Police Command’s operatives following a gunfight with the abductors.
The Katsina Police Command spokesman, ASP Aliyu Abubakar-Sadiq, released a statement saying that the villagers were kidnapped on Saturday by armed people who attacked their hamlet brandishing dangerous weapons and firing intermittently.
At approximately 10:46 p.m. on November 11, information was received by the Jibia divisional police station of an attack on the village by armed bandits brandishing lethal weapons, including an AK-47 rifle, who were firing intermittently and kidnapping three people.
“A search and rescue team was swiftly dispatched to the scene by Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Jibia upon receiving this report.
“The squad kept searching through the nearby bushes, and on November 12, at around six in the morning, they managed to locate and confront the suspected kidnappers in a gunfight.
“Every person who had been abducted was successfully freed without incident. As the inquiry continues, efforts are being made to apprehend the suspects who are running,” stated Abubakar-Sadiq.
