Police successfully rescue pregnant woman from kidnappers in Ogun

A pregnant woman (name withheld) who was kidnapped at a community in Ijebu-Igbo, Ijebu-North Local Government Area of the state, has reportedly been freed, according to the Ogun State Police Command.

At at 11:05 p.m. on Monday, Christmas Day, the woman was rescued by members of the Amotekun Corps and men from the Police Command.

Omolola Odutola, the public relations officer for Ogun State Police, verified the news on Friday.

According to a police spokeswoman, a couple was ambushed in front of their home by an unidentified group of gunmen, who then abducted the pregnant wife and left the husband behind.

According to Odutola, “A distress call concerning a possible kidnapping event was received by the Divisional Police Officer at Ijebu-Igbo.

“When a squad of police officers arrived on the scene, they discovered the husband, but the wife had been abducted.”

According to the husband, “six armed men from nowhere suddenly came out of the bush in front of their house and kidnapped the wife,” as reported by Odutola.

She continued by saying that the rescue squad included the DPO, his troops, and members of the Amotekun Corps, So-Safe Corps, and other organisations.

After spending hours looking through the undergrowth, they managed to find and save the woman on Tuesday. For treatment, the woman was brought to a hospital.

Odutola stated, “The Ogun State Command, led by Commissioner of Police CP Abiodun Alamutu, would not give up until criminals are eliminated from Ogun, wherever they may be.
