Sughshater Ushahemba, of Mbadyur council ward, Logo Local Government Area, of the State, has been taken into custody by police from the Benue state command for poisoning her 11-month-old child.
The neighbourhood reports that early on Saturday morning, the mom fed the infant what is believed to be a toxin.
Another source claims that the infant passed away in the early hours of Saturday due to a high temperature.

It was reported that the woman was caught trying to bury the child.
On Monday, however, journalists were notified by Logo LGA Information Officer Paul Pevikyaa that the baby’s wife had earlier claimed that the infant fell ill at 12:31 am and passed away two hours later.
“When the woman was interviewed,” he stated, “she (the woman) said the baby started having a high fever around 12.31 am and that the body was so hot that she gave up within two hours.”
“She said that the mistake she made was not telling her neighbours about what had happened during the night at daybreak because there is a strong belief that if you have neighbours, you can at least call them for assistance at night and they can serve as witnesses. She didn’t, however, do that.
However, the information officer stated that the woman eventually admitted to killing her child because the man who had pregnant her had abandoned her.
“So she tried burying the baby when day broke. He stated that the infant was 11 months old.
Pevikyaa continued, “The woman claimed that her boyfriend had gotten her pregnant, and that after she gave birth to a daughter, the boy left her alone with the child.”
Pevikyaa stated, “She claimed she had been having problems with the child, which is why she poisoned the infant by giving her a chemical that is used to spray grasses.”
The suspect is presently being held, according to Catherine Anene, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Benue State Command, SP, who confirmed the occurrence in the meantime.
