Three individuals who had been kidnapped were successfully rescued from their captors by a joint operation conducted by the Bauchi Police Command and local hunters.
The operation, which took place on April 22, 2024, targeted a group of bandits operating along the borders of Bauchi and Plateau states.
Acting on credible information, detectives from Gumau, Tilde, and Tulu divisions encountered the armed bandits during a routine patrol and engaged them in a fierce firefight.
As a result, eight bandits were killed, including four suspected kidnappers.
During the operation, two of the suspects who were apprehended confessed to their involvement in numerous kidnapping incidents across Bauchi and Plateau states.
Shockingly, they also admitted to the brutal murder of a village head in Ruruwai village, Lame District, Toro LGA, Bauchi State, on March 17, 2024.

The information provided by these suspects led the detectives to the hideout where the three kidnapped victims from Dokayel village were being held captive since April 20, 2024.
A subsequent firefight ensued between the remaining accomplices guarding the hostages and the law enforcement officers.
In this intense exchange, four more kidnappers were neutralized, ensuring the safe rescue of the three captives without any ransom being paid.
The success of this operation highlights the effectiveness of the collaboration between the Bauchi Police Command and local hunters in combating criminal activities and ensuring the safety of the community.
The Bauchi Police Command, through their spokesperson SP Ahmed Wakil, commended the bravery and dedication of the operatives involved in this operation.
